Pakistan’s off-spinner Sajid Khan picked up his 2nd five-wicket haul in Test cricket during Day 3 of the 2nd Test against England in Multan. Sajid picked up seven wickets against England to lead Pakistan’s charge in the 2nd Test. His spell of 7/111 in 26.2 overs is also the best bowling figures at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The spin duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khanspun their web to share 10 wickets between them to bundle England out at 291. The visitors trailed by 75 runs as they were strangled by the spin. Sajid had four bowled dismissals in the innings with the victims being Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Matthew Potts.

He became only the fourth Pakistan spinner with four or more such dismissals. The previous Pakistan spinner with four or more bowled dismissals in an innings was Abdul Qadir in Karachi in 1987-88, also against England. The previous spinner from any country to effect four or bowled dismissals in the first innings (of the team) in a Test was Imran Tahir against Pakistan in Dubai in 2013-14.

The Pakistan team gathered together to give a warm hug to Sajid on his milestone moment. The official social media handle of Pakistan Cricket shared the video of the emotional celebration.

It was Sajid’s spell on Day 2 which triggered England’s collapse as they slipped from 211/2 to 225/6. For Sajid, the dismissal of Root was a personal milestone, one he described as his “dream wicket.”
